"Of Love And Despair"- One More Chance

As you can imagine, Mind Over MUSIC Movement wouldn't thrive without a strong connection and borderline family-esque bond with the passionate artist we encounter. In the same sense that we get to meet so many people of different walks of life who share their stories and experiences with us, so to could be said for artist and performers alike. As these artists look to help us spread mental health awareness and help us defeat stigma, we look to simultaneously help them to expand their reach and grow their fan base.

We're proud to say that we have the opportunity to be a part of the album release party for the album "Of Love and Despair" by our good friends from Tallahassee , Florida; Skyview.

Skyview  is an Alternative / New Wave band from north Florida. Formed in 2008 by Evan Smith & Ryan Kirk, genre influences vary from alt rock, new wave (80s) electronic music, and indie rock which makes for a diversified conglomeration of musical output. The blending of musical aspirations of epic and grandiosity and the cultural revolution in the digital era is what makes the art that Evan Smith, Ryan Kirk, Stephen Charles,  and Jonathan Harrington truly special.

As a lead up to the release of "Of Love and Despair", Skyview will be revealing not only the lyrics to tracks from the album, but also the intimate details about them as well as the writing process. To kick off the "Of Love and Despair" series, we start with "One More Chance".

Lyrics:

I remember you it was early June, we fell apart.
Too late to erase or relive the nature of our...
Fallen love, it bids farewell.
Fake it all, and take your fill.

Let me stay with you
Make our dreams come true.
Slowing down the dance.
Give me one more chance.

You remember too on a winter night I broke your heart.
Too late to erase or relive the nature of our...
Fallen love, it bids farewell.
Fake it all, and take your fill.

Let me stay with you
Make our dreams come true.
Slowing down the dance.
Give me one more chance

Let me stay with you
Make our dreams come true.
Slowing down the dance.
Give me one more chance

As written by Evan Smith-

"This song begins with telling a story of how love fell apart and there would be no use in reliving any of what happened in the past. The pre-chorus describes what this love had finally become at it's fruition: fallen, deceitful, and incapable of compassionate. The result of reminiscing the past brings us to the chorus which is a plea for one last chance at the relationship. The hope that things would just settle down and just go back to normal, before the fighting began and before conflict ruled the air and conversation. The second verse describes the other person's point of view of when and how things went wrong in a different time and a different place and once again realizing that it would be ineffective to relive the past. "One More Chance" is similar to our song, "You Win" in its tone, and movements. It has a melodramatic feel in the verses and a sense of depravity in the choruses, but at the end we spotlight the synthesizer with a triumphant solo to close the song. Our keyboardist, Ryan Kirk plays a 1981 Korg Monopoly & his solo is featured at 2:40. Instrumentally, we pieced this one together towards the end of the recording process and although it was recorded during one of our last sessions it still rings true to the overall feel and direction of the record."
